PLOUGHING MATCH AT HAWARDEN
Results Of Annual Y,F.C. Event
The fourteenth annual ploughing match of the Hawarden-Waikari Young Farmers’ Club was held on Mr W. R. E. Booker's property at Hawarden recently. Twenty-five competitors took part, and there was a good standard of ploughing. Results were:—
Long Mouldboards.—Over 20 years J. C. Brooker 1. E. E. Booker 2, A. D. Matthews 3. Under 20 years: T. Manning 1. E. Smith 2. M. Sidey 3. Short Mouldboards.—Over 20 years: O. M. Brooker 1, J. D. Sidey 2. R. Brooker 3. Under 20 years: K. Earl 1, B. Jensen 2.
Special Prizes.—Heatherdale challenge cup. best all-round ploughman, J. C. Brooker; A. Burke challenge cup. most points in class A. J. C. Brooker; David Forrester memorial challenge cup, most points in class B. T. Manning; Reg. Mason memorial challenge cup. most points in class C, O. M. Brooker; A. R. Mackay cup, most points class D. K. Earl; Mr J. W. Earl's prize for best ploughman under 18. T. Manning; Cuddon and Stewart prize tor youngest ploughman. B. Jensen; Pyne. Gould. Guinness prize tor best ins and outs. T. M. McCaskey; P. and D. Duncan prize lor competitor from furthest away, W Sanders; Europa prize for best ferine. W. Sanders; National Mortgage prize for best finish, O. E. Brooker; Pyne, Gould, Guinness prize for straightest ploughing, O. E. Brooker; Waikari Lime Company. runner-up champion ploughman, O. E. Brooker; Vacuum Oil Company’s prize for runner-up. O. E. Brooker: P. and D. Duncan prize for best novice, T. Manning.
