Leading Teams Win Again

South Christchurch. A and Beckenham kept their lead in the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association’s winter inter-club competition when they won their matches at Wilding Park on Saturday. University A last year’s winner, suffered its second defeat of this season when it lost to South Christchurch A.

Other teams which won were Sumner, University B, and North Linwood.

Points are:—South Christchurch A 7, Beckenham 7, University A 5, Sumner 5, University B 3. North Linwood 3, Barrington 2, South Christchurch B 2, Woolston 1. University C 0.

South Christchurch A v. University Men's Singles.—G. Moss beat B. Stringer, 6-3, 6-0; B. Powell beat G. Bryant.

■ Women’s Singles.—Mrs L. Nation beat Miss S. Burrow, 6-2, 6-4; Mrs ?2 in 7 < 5 1 beat MiSS J ’ Carlson ’ Mixed ' Doubles.—Moss and Mrs Nation beat Stringer and Miss Burrow, 6-0, 6-1; Powell and Mrs Robinson beat Bryant and Miss Carlson, 7-5, 8-6.

South Christchurch A won by 6 matches to 0. South Christchurch B v. Sumner Men’s Singles.—J. Gyde lost to S. Rapson, 1-6, 4-6; R. Whitley lost to D. S. Ferguson, 3-6, 4-6. Women’s Singles.—Mrs E. Stevenson lost to Mrs D. S. Ferguson, 3-6, 4-6; Miss R. Squibb lost to Miss A. M. Collins, 0-6, 0-6.

Mixed Doubles.—Gyde and Miss Stevenson lost to Rapson and Miss Collins, 2-6, 4-6; Whitley and Miss Squibb lost to Ferguson and Mrs Ferguson, 4-6, 0-6. Sumner won by 6 matches to 0. Woolston v. North Linwood
