Raced by Mr J. Rooney, of Temuka, who hought her for about £lOOO earlier in the year. Court Out is trained at Yaldhurst by M. Holmes, who drove Acclamation to win this race In 1946 and Alight in 1957.

Mr Rooney has had a long association with trotting and he races a champion trotter in Recruit. Court Out is a bay filly by Court Martial, the sire of Moon Boy, from Flower Girl, a winner at the pacing *gait for N. E. Browne, of Yaldhurst.

Court Out raced to the front with six furlongs left and was closely attended by Ahumai, with Kennoway moving up on the outside of Wairau King. Court Out led Ahumai by a length and a half racing to the straight, with a similar distance to Kennoway and

two lengths to Wairau King, which lost ground on each bend.

Court Out was not asked for a serious effort ih the straight to hold a lead of half a length over Ahumai at the post. The galloping Kennoway was a neck back third, a length and a half in front of Wairau King. Ahumai and Kennoway were relegated to third and fourth respectively, with Wairau King being promoted to second. Glenfern was beaten off fifth, with the other starters a long way back.

Omega In Form Omega raced in the middle of the field until the last three furlongs of. the Monte Carlo Handicap and he ran out the last furlong too solidly for Stylish Petro. Disraeli was first out, being closely attended at the mile post by Achates. Frown improved wide out to take over before the five furlongs. He was well beaten with three and a half furlongs left where Stylish Petro worked clear. Stylish Petro raced to the straight ahead of Omtega, ivith Kiwi Grattan just in behind them. Two lengths back Disraeli was next, ahead of On Side, Achates, Stoker, Waitaki Child, Bracken Brae and Mighty Mina.

Omega and Stylish Petro had the finish to themselves, with Omega doing beat to win by a short length. Stylish Petro raced right up to his best to get up for second, two lengths in front of Mighty Mina, which came home fast from towards the renr at the three furlongs. There was merit in his effort. Kiwi Grattan tired to fourth, half a length back, a length and a half in front of Disraeli, with half a neck to Stoker, a neck to On Side and a length and a half to Ceremonial. Red Fyre Holds On

Red Fyre returned to winning form with a narrow win in the June Handicap. She raced in the middle of the field most of the way, but was pushed back to the rear of the bunch near the halfmile. Damian went from last to first after passing the half-mile and turned for home ahead of Pagliacci, Highland Heath, Surie Queen. Kanor, Keff. Bindora. Responsive and Red Fyre. with Super Attack showing up wide out. * Damian -was soon in trouble and Red Fvre finished boldly wide out to win by a head.

Super Attack, after appearing to be well beaten on the home turn, made up a lot of ground for second, just ahead of Pagliacci, which was in the firjt five throughout the race. Surie Queen, the early leader, tired to fourth two lengths away, a neck in front of Responsive, with a nose to Bindora, half a neck to Highland Heath, a head to Kanor and a nose to Damian. Josie Gay and Damian broke at the start. Another Upset First Belle continued the route of the favourites with a narrow win over Blue Marlin in the Members' Handicap. M. Holmes soon worked First Belle into a handy position, just behind the pacemaker, Blue Marlin. The pace was slack early, but it increased sharply near the two furlongs. Blue Marlin led for home ahead of First Belle, with two lengths to Laughlin’s Lass. Falsehood. Radar, Dark Valley. Hatter’s Plush and Queen’ Audrey. Blue Marlin looked likely to hold on inside the furlong, but Fust Belle responded gamely for Holmes to win by a head. Blue Marlin was half a length in front of Falsehood, which did well to finish so '.‘lose up after losing 84 yards at the start. Radar, after loosing ground in the middle stages, came home well for fourth, a length behind Falsehood, with a length to Dark Valley, three lengths to Schnapps and half a neck to Smokeaway. Nadiehda, Schnapps, Ebonite, Queen Rani. Dusky Minstrel, Falsehood and Impala lost ground at the start. Easy For Patchwork Patchwork received a perfect run throughout the Wilkin Handicap and she was an easy winner. Teryman was first out, but at the end of three and a half furlongs Geraldo worked clear. With a • little more than half a mile to run Patchwork moved up on the outside of Teryman and she raced to the front with two and a half furlongs left and turned for home five lengths in front of Imperial Light, Fire Bell. Roxburgh Lad. Te Par. Teryman and Clackston.

Patchwork had the result in safe keeping over the final furlong and she was easing right up at the post with two lengths to spare. Te Par paced a useful race for second, half a length in front of the favourite, Teryman, which became badly pocketed on the rails near the three furlongs. Patchwork had established a winning break before he worked clear Fire Bell was beaten off fourth, a nose in front of Maori Chief. Clackston, Geraldo and Roxburgh Lad headed a tired lot.
