FISHING BOAT IN DIFFICULTIES
Kept Off Reef By \ .Anchor (New Zealand Press Associati
INVERCARGILL, June 11. The Crew of a Stewart Island fishing boat, the Angela, spent an anxious time about two boat lengths off a reef this morning when her engine.Xailed. Fortunately for the crew—Messrs T. Gilroy (skipper) and H. Harland -‘-the anchor chain did not break. The sea was choppy. The Angela sent an S.O.S. toAwarua radio _ station when the engine would not start, and the Air-Sea Rescue Organisation was alerted. An amphibian aircraft left tor the scene carrying lifesaving equipment, and the fastest boat in Half Moon Bay, the Seaforth, put out. When the Seaforth had covered half of the 27-mile journey the Angela radioed that her engine had started, but that her anchor was stuck.
The Seaforth winched the anchor up and towed the Angela back to- port in case the motor broke down again.
