Children’s Centre At Museum
The children’s centre at the Natural History Museum in Kensington. -London, encourages the idea that children will find it fun to discover things for themselves, either in individual study or in groups, and youngsters come flocking to it from all over London and the nearest counties every Saturday. By depositing Id. any child between eight and 15 can borrow coloured pencils, paper, boards and stools to make his own drawings. There are regular talks by the museum staff, and tours round the galleries and departments. Children are encouraged to make a comprehensive study of a group of animals and plants. This is done by offering club membership, with its extra privileges, to any child who studies either group thoroughly and presents his work in book form. It is one of the most popular projects at the centre.
