Mayors To Have Gold • Medals

*‘The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND, June 2.

Members of the Papatoetoe Borough Council will in future wear special badges at official functions The badges will bear the borough’s coat of arms and have an attached “councillor” bar Under a scheme approved by the council, members who retire after five years’ service on the council will be given a silver badge. A gold badge will be presented on retirements after 10years’ service, A mayor retiring after a full term will also get a gold medal. The bar to the badge will not be worn when council members retire The die the council will buy for stamping the badges will also be psed as the borough’s official seal.
