The weather has been wet, but the forecast is for Improving conditions tomorrow when the Foxton Racing Club will stage its winter meeting. Veteran Trainer Suspended

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) MELBOURNE, May 15. A veteran 68-year-old Caulfield trainer. Les Bloom, was today disqualified for 12 months by the Pakenham Racing Club stewards for improper practice in connexion with the running of Bush King in the May Handicap last Wednesday. A 16-year-old stable apprentice, J. Dentith, who rode Bush King, was disqualified for six months. Bush King, owned as well as trained by Bloom, was also disqualified for 12 months. Bloom said he would appeal against the stewards’ decision against himself and on behalf of the boy and horse. His appeal has to be lodged with the Gippsland District Racing Association. Bluom and Dentith were questioned for an hour and a half before they were charged. Bloom said he had been training for almost 50 years. He was granted his first V.R.C. permit to train In 1929. He trained in New Zealand for a time, and came back to Australia in 1939.

Tulloch Beaten In Trial

(N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) SYDNEY, May 15. Tulloch was beaten but not disgraced in the five furlongs barrier trial—his first real test since his return to racing—at Randwick today. The crack Sydney colt. Skyline, beat Tulloch by a length and a halt in 61jsec. Cornelius was a neck away third. Tulloch responded well In the straight to Ray Selkrig’s vigorous riding, but had no chance of catching the brilliant and well-conditioned Skyline. . . „ , , Observers regarded Tulloch s performance as excellent for this stage in his preparation, and a fair indication of what can be expected of him in the coming Queensland carnival.

Sailor’s Guide In Training

(N.Z Press Association—Copyright) ATLANTIC CITY, May 14. Sailor’s Guide, winner of the 100,000 dollar Washington D.C. International at Laurel last year, has returned to training and will be entered in Atlantic City’s 100,000 dollars United Nations Handicap. The nine and a half furlongs race —on grass—will be run on September 19.

Sailor’s Guide, which won the International from Tudor Era on a protest, was sent to California after his Laurel victory, but appeared lame and was shipped back to Kentucky for a rest.
