N.Z. House Tenders No decision has been made yet on tenders for New Zealand House in London, the Prime Minister (Mr Nash) said yesterday. Tenders had been received by the Government and would be considered by a Government committee.—(P.A.) Jamaican Oranges About 2000 cases of Jamaican oranges will be released from Christchurch cool stores today. They will be available at the fruit and produce markets this afternoon and are expected to be in the shops tomorrow. When the Matson liner Mariposa berthed at Auckland last week she discharged 15,000 cases of Californian oranges. It is believed that these will be for North Island distribution only. Infectious Diseases : Six cases of infective hepatitis were reported to the Health Department in the Christchurch district last week, according to figures supplied yesterday. In the same period there were notified three cases of ophthalmia neonatorum and one case each of eclampsia, hydatids, salmonellosis and pemphigus neonatorum. Land For University On the suggestion of the Mayor (Mr E. A. Millward) the Wanganui City Council last night decided to offer the Government free of charge, 25 acres of land for the establishment of a university in Wanganui. The land is part of a 40-acre block behind St. George’s preparatory school, originally set aside in the city’s town plan as a housing area.— (P.A.) Temporary Occupation The City of London Court of Common Council does not think that being a member of Parliament is an occupation or a profession. It refused to accept a nomination sponsoring a freeman and signed by Isaac Pitman, Conservative member of Parliament for Bath, in which he described himself as a member of Parliament. “As an occupation it is only temporary,’’ said a council spokesman. The nomination has been sent back to Mr Pitman for amendment.
