ADULT EDUCATION FOR CATHOLICS

Classes To Begin Next Week

A Catholic Adult Education Institute under the direction of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Christchurch (the Most Rev. E. M. Joyce) will come into operation in the city next Monday. Initially only four subjects will be covered, dogmatic theology, liturgy. Church history and social ethics. Prominent Christchurch theologians and laymen will deliver the 10 lectures on each subject which will comprise the first term of the institute. They will be held in the Catholic Library in High street.

Organised on a world-wide scale, the Catholic adult education scheme has been working successfully in most parts of the

English-speaking world for a number of years. Its aims are to educate the intellectually and emotionally mature individual in certain aspects of education which belong to adult life. The lectures will be spread out over 10 weeks and will be continued if they are successful.
