NEW BRIGHTON IMPRESSES

Best Display For Some Years

New Brighton played some of its best football for years when it beat Black Diamonds (Glentunnel) by 32 points to 0 at Jellicoe Park on Saturday. The New Brighton forwards, under the vigorous leadership of H. Burry, completely dominated play and gave their backs every opportunity. The former Sydenham three-quarters, R. Bowick, at centre, and B. Bowick, right wing, gave thrust when it was needed and the five-eighths, L. Odgers and R. Harris, made numerous opening against a weak defence.

In the second half, F. Bishop replaced B. Boland on the left wing and scored one try through his great pace and missed narrowly scoring twice.

Black Diamonds did well to hold New Brighton to a lead of six points at half time but in the second half the New Brighton forwards and backs broke through almost at will. Tries were scored for New Brighton by G. Barrow, Bishop, Burry, A. Moore, Harris. B. Bowick and T. Milessi. B. Rossiter kicked a penalty goal and converted four tries. The referee was Mr P. Breach.
