DISASTER IN THE DITCH —Miss S. Grigg about to make a catch on the sixteenth fairway at Shirley yesterday during the final of the Canterbury women’s golf championship. She had just hit her second shot into the ditch, and the bail had been retrieved by Mr C. J. Ward, the husband of Miss Grigg’s opponent. Mrs Ward won the hole with a birdie 4, but Miss Grigg (photograph inset) took the match at the next hole and retained her title.
