BRIDE’S VEIL IGNITED
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) MELBOURNE, March 8.
A 14-year-old Ukrainian bride l shouted in terror as flames from her blazing bridal veil licked about her face yesterday. The bride, Maria Korowsky, dashed the burning veil to the floor of the church.
She straightened slowly and murmered to her pale-faced groom, Peter Moravski, and they resumed their walk to the altar. The accident occurred as the couple were waiting at the back of the church.
A bearded Ukrainian priest handed them a long candle before they moved off down the aisle to be married. The bride’s nylon and tulle finger-tip veil brushed the flame of the candle, and instantly flared up. She was not hurt.
