Gyratory System Introduced

A double gyratory system for traffic has been instituted at Christchurch airport. A right-hand turnoff a short distance past the main entrance leads to the overseas terminal. National Airways freight depot, the parking lot, the aero club and to Airwork, Ltd. The anticlockwise roundabout returns to the main entrance road but it is possible to turn into the second roundabout without going outside the airport The second, roundabout is the familiar circuit traffic used to take to get to the internal airways terminal building. Under the new system-it serves the terminal, the National Airways workshops, the Meteorological Service, ’ the Civil Aviation Administration offces, and Trans Island Airways. The circuit swings past the petrol filling site and there is now no direct access from it to the overseas section of the airport.
