Mrs J. K. Lees, vice-president of a North Island branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers, gave a talk on the work of the organisation in her area at a meeting of the Canterbury provincial executive of the division yesterday. Mrs Lees is visiting Christchurch to attend a meeting of the Country Girls’ Clubs as a division representative. She was welcomed to the meeting by the president (Mrs H. Rule). Mrs Rule thanked branches for their help in making the recent visit of the Dominion president (Mrs R. D. Eastwood) a most successful one. It was announced that the next Interprovincial conference would be held at Rangiora in March. 1960. A-house-to-house collection for the Combined Hospital Chapels* Appeal was recommended to delegates. Mrs R. A. Ambridge reported that one senior and one Junior housekeeper were working for , the executive at present. Mrs G. . W. Fairweather gave a report on the work of Stratheona Home Training Centre. Catholic Women’s League<-The i president (Mrs J. E. Amos) wel- ■ corned members of the Catholic Women’s League and their friends i to the opening function of the year, a musical evening.
