MINOR FIRES

Two calls to minor fires were answered by the Christchurch Fire Brigade last evening. At 4.6 p.m. the brigade went to 36 Mcßratneys road, where a rubbish fire had got out of control on property occupied by Miss P. B. Ball. No damage was done. The brigade went to the Moorhouse avenue factory of D. H. Brown and Son Ltd., at 6.13 pjn. to extinguish a fire in a hopper containing dehydrated, lucerne. There was slight damage to a wooden elevator, but the brigade had no difficulty in putting out the fire.

Earlier in the afternoon, at 1.48 pjn., a unit from the Central Fire Station was called to a grass fire on a property at 375 Hereford street, .occupied by Mrs I. M. Creighton. About 20ft of paling fence was damaged in the fire.
