Sumatran Estates Seized

An Indonesian official was reported to have announced that two British-owned rubber plantations ip Northern Surtiatra had been taken over under instructions from the Jakarta Government, the “New York Times” said today. The official, Mr Parlindungan, was chief of the Agrarian Affairs Inspectorate in Northern Sumatra, the “New York Times” said. He was quoted as having said the seizure was made on February 4. Three other foreignowned estates also would be seized,, according to the report.
