N.Z. INDUSTRIES FAIR
Nearly All Space Sold With practically all space sold, planning for the New .Zealand industries Fair in May was well advanced and work generally was progressing satisfactorily, reported Mr A. R. Cutler (chairman of the fair committee) to last evening’s meeting of the council of ' the Canterbury Manufacturers' Association. Work on giving the buildings a “new look” would be undertaken in the next few weeks, said Mr Cutler. It called for the complete transformation of the main building facade, new interior lighting and landscape garden Bettings. Negotiations were in train for a spectacular musical water dancing fountain, a most attractive show piece now all the rage in England and on the Continent. Many outstanding exhibits would be staged, including animated and working displays, said Mr Cutler. A model home would be the ideal setting for the latest development in building and furnishing techniques. Another highW would be’ the return, after a brief absence, of the New Zealand Government court. The entertainment hall would be situated this year in the main building, he announced, and Mr Jack Maybury would again present the stage shows. In addition to the usual inside entertainment, and the fun fair avenue, provision had been made for presenting open-air entertainment. The area would be reserved for the exclusive presentation of special attractions such as a “rock 'n' roll” night for teenagers, tug-of-war competitions, roller skating and special competitions for children.
