Discussion On New Road Proposed
The Kaiapoi Borough Council »st evening decided to call a public meeting, to which it will invite me National Roads Board and Ministry of Works to put their Wans for the proposed new northern outlet from Christchurch. The decision was made after a fequest from the Kaiapoi Businessmen’s Association. 'Two science scholarships enoowed by large commercial and industrial organisations have been Accepted by the Auckland UniJJirity. Booths the Chemists Ltd., has endowed a fellowship of an annual value of £450 to promote research in the chemistry and pharmacology -of Products derived from New Zea}jnd plants. The Colonial Sugar jtfning Company, Ltd., has en<wed a scholarship for underJJJduate students in electrical, •neehanical, or chemical engineerof an amount of £175 a year four years.—(PJL)
