Vehicle Plunges Over 30ft Bank • Neu £eaiano Association! DUNEDIN, February 15. A little girl in a runaway car careering downhill at 30 miles an hour in a Dunedin street was lucky to escape- serious She is 8-year-old Felicity O’Malley. The car had been, parked by Felicity’s mother, Mrs P. P. O’Malley, on the brow of the hill on the main south road, overlooking The Glen. Mrs O’Malley went into a nearby grocer’s shop. She was followed a few moments later by her brother-in-law, Mr J. O’Malley. Felicity was alone in the car, which careered about 200 yards down the hill and plunged over a 30ft bank, tearing away 15ft of wooden fence. The car came to rest about five yards away from the sidewalk on Wilkie road.

Mr O’Malley, who had been chasing the car after seeing it start to run down the hill, arrived on the scene in a matter of minutes and comforted the frightened child. Apart from a small bruise, on her forehead Felicity was otherwise not injured She was in the front seat of the chr during the incident and struck her head on the windscreen as it came to rest.

The car was not extensively' damaged. j
