One Driver Suspended After the Strowan Handicap at Addington on Saturday a complaint was lodged by the stipendiary stewards against D. J. Bennett, the driver or Captivus, on the ground of careless driving, causing interference to Great Direct, Firebell and Laughlin’s Lass. Bennett was found guilty of careless driving, allowing his horse to hit the sulky of Imperial Light, causing Captivus to break and check Great Direct, Firebell and Laughlin's Lass. Bennett’s driving licence was suspended until March 13. After the Yaldhurst Handicap an inquiry was held into the breaking of Sure Patrick and Guiliano, which' in turn checked a number of horses. It was found that Sure Patrick broke and Guiliano, which was trailing Sure Patrick, in trying to avoid him, clipped a sulky wheel of Sure Patrick. Guiliano then broke and checked a number of horses. R. H. Adcock, the driver of Guiliano, was warned to exercise more care in future, otherwise action would be taken against him. J. A, Donaldson, owner-trainer of Western Son, was fined £lO for the late scratching of the horse in the Wigram Handicap. After the Wigram Handicap an inquiry was held into the racing manners of Maxwelton, owned and trained by J. A. R. Hampton. After hearing the evidence and from their observations of the past performances of this horse, the stewards decided to declare Maxwelton ineligible to start at any totalisator meeting until April 10, 1959, inclusive.
