SUN CHIEF GAINS EASY WIN IN CLASSIC RACE

The Oamaru erit Sun Chief had hia aeeand successive win en Saturday in the Canterbury Park Juvenile Stake*. Sun Chief and Sally Boy began best, but Sun Chief was soon a clear leader. Karingal worked clear just inside the furlong and Merry Nora gradually moved up to him. Merry Nora finished best and won by a neck. Karingal was not troubled to hold second place two lengths in front of Welburn, which made up ground over the last six furlongs. Crisette, after meeting trouble, showed speed to get up for fourth, ahead of Kaboon, which just shaded Lawsuit. Reprimand, Guiliano, and Van Cheetah headed the others. Reprimand and Kaboon broke at the furlong when close to the lead.
