APPOINTMENTS IN INDONESIA
Two N.Z. Graduates Accept Posts (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 15. Two New Zealand graduates will live and work for the next twcK years in Indonesia under a new scheme designed to promote better relations and understanding between the two nations. They are Mr G. Barfoot, aged 22, of Auckland, an accountant, and Mr A. Kilgour, aged 26, master of arts in psychology, from Christchurch.
z The two men left Auckland for Indonesia today. They are the first appointees under a graduate employment scheme for Indonesia organised by the New Zealand University Students’ Association. The scheme is modelled on a similar programme launched by the National Union of Australian University Students several years ago. The primary objectives of the plan are to promote better relations and understanding between Indonesia and Zealand and also to provide practical assistance to the Indonesian authorities faced with the problems of a rapidly developing country. The New Zealand Government has assisted greatly in the project and the fares of the two men have been paid by the Government as part of the Colombo Plan.
