SOVIET ARMS FOR IRAQ

.BEIRUT. February 14. The Iraqui Government has received four shipments of Russian arms since the July revolution, according to authoritative reports reaching Beirut A Russian mlltary mission of about 40 men is believed to be in Bagdad to train the Iraqi Army in the use of the new equipment. Between 100 and 150 Russian T-34 and T-54 tanks, heavy mortars, land mines, anti-aircraft guns, and transport are said to have been included in the shipments. Unconfirmed reports say Iraq is paying £7O million tor the arms over a. period of years, the first payment being about £3O million. In spite of the reported arms deal with Russia, Iraq la still seeking a few pieces of Western military equipment. Britain has supplied spare parts requested for the Army's predominantly British arms, and two shipments of American spare parts have arrived since the revolution.
