Need For More Staff (New Zealana Press Association) AUCKLAND. Feb. 12. There was a need for more medical staff and psychiatric nurses in New Zealand mental hospitals. which were overcrowded by about 700 patients, said the Minister of Health (Mr Mason) today. He was speaking at the opening of the second new £ 7b,000 villa to accommodate 48 elderly women patients at Kingseat Hospital.

Mr Mason said he had asked for a report on the possible establishment of a complete out-patient system of services for the ‘mentally ill because he believed that this form of treatment would greatly ease the burden on the psychiatric hospitals. A considerable Amount of this work was al-i ready .-being done.
