CAPSIZE IN ESTUARY
Statement By Mr James Park
“I feel that the report in this morning’s issue of ‘The Press’ of my capsize in the Estuary last evening gave an impression of a danger that was not in fact present,” said Mr James Park, of Sumner, in a statement last even-
ing.' Mr Park said that for the sake of parents of young boys yachting on the Estuary—several of whom had been heard to express fears of their sons’ safety since the report appeared—he felt the impression should be corrected. “I appreciate the concern of the Redcliff resident who saw me capsize and who then telephoned the commodore of the Christchurch Yacht Club (Mr A. J. Ebert)he said. “I also appreciate the trouble Mr Ebert went to in securing a dinghy and rowing out to see if I needed assistance. At no time was I in danger When Mr Ebert arrived I had righted the boat and was standing in fallow water, near the Causeway, with the boat completely baled out I feel that too many reports regarded the . yuAta in Estuary 1 U dangerous rather than
