Bay Of Plenty Wins Series

(New Zealand Press Association) NAPIER, February 12.

The Bay of Plenty yacht (J. Williams, G. Denniston, and R. West) this morning won the New Zealand Idle-along championship for the Moffat Cup. Bay of Plenty won this morning’s decisive race to record four wins for the series. Hawke’s Bay, with four seconds, was runner-up ter the title.

This, morning’s race was over a straight windward leeward course. The wind was mostly a light to moderate easterly. Bay of Plenty mistook a recall for Auckland at the start and went back over - the line. The yacht then went through the rest of the field and attained the lead which it held almost throughout the race. , Canterbury was in third place. Aggregate points scored over the series were Bay of Plenty 433, Hawke’s Bay 333, Wellington 223, Auckland 212, Canterbury 208, Southland 160, Poverty Bay 137, Otago 113, Wanganui-Manawatu 100, North Auckland 62, Taranaki 59.
