NEXT RACE FOR COMPENSATE
Mid-Summer Handicap (From Our Own Reporter J WELLINGTON, January 23. Compensate and Arc Flight, two members of J. C. Hobbs’s Oamaru team, were taken to the South Island after racing at Trentham on Monday. Compensate hung badly in his two races on the trip and did not run up to anything like his best form. He will now be prepared for the Mid-Summer Handicap at Riccarton on February 7. .Hobbs has remained at Trentham With Brown Watch, a form runner for the Kelburn Hack Handicap tomorrow. Brown Watch did not have a trouble-free run in the Douro Handicap on Monday and did well to finish third.
