Big Blow May Win
“The Press' Special Service AUCKLAND, Jan. 23. Big Blow and Supertax may dispute the finish of the Ellerslie Anniversary Cup, the first leg of the double, on the first day of the Auckland Racing Club’s midsummer meeting at Ellerslie tomorrow. Big Blow won the Auckland Cup Trial at Pukekohe in December, and Supertax was the Hoskjng Handicap winner at Pukekohe last Saturday. Since his Auckland Cup Trial victory. Big Blow has been out of form, b’t his training efforts at Takanini during t! 2 last week have been racist impressive, and he seems close to his best again. He shared first place with True Bridge in this race last year, and has only 31b more to master this time. Others likely to be well supported are Archdeacon, Khisdar, an Red Robe. Royal Crescent may be the hardest to beat in the Zealandia Handicap, the second leg. A topclass mare with a very determined finishing burst, Royal Crescent will be well suited by the distance, seven furlongs. Supreme Court, Lord Al 31, Barobar, Lady Debra, and Court Gold will also have good prospects. Supreme Court emphasised his fitness when he gab _ed brilliantly at Takanini during the week.
