Huge Hailstones In lowa

(Rec. 10.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON. January 22. Huge hailstones have been reported from lowa to the Weather Bureau in Washington. The stones melted before they could be officially measured, but were reported to be 6in to Bin in diameter. So far as the Weather Bureau is concerned’, the largest hailstone in the world was one which fell in a field near Potter, Nebraska, in 1928. It was 17 inches in circumference, 5.4 inches in diameter and weighed one and a half pounds.
