LONDON WOOL SALE
Tone Brightens In Current Series
(NJi. Press Association-Copy right) LONDON, January 21. A much brighter tone ruled in the sale room when the January series of London wool sales continued today. More buoyant competition was often reflected by animated bidding from the home trade. The total offering was some 12,600 bales, of which 9300 were from New Zealand, comprising 5900 in grease, 2100 scourbreds, and 1200 slipes. Crossbred qualities predominated amongst the New Zealand greasy types, with Gisborne and Hawke’s Bay wools prominent. Fleece Wools Amongst the fleece wools, fine qualities were unchanged, while medium types moved against the buyer. A feature of the sale was the keen demand for the small offering of Canterbury Merinos. These sold under some strong competition at excellent prices. Some irregularity, however, was noticed among scoured crossbreds, with fleece of -50’s quality and broader using in buyers’ favour, while skirtings were 2J per cent, cheaper.
