Hydatids

Sir, —You need not worry about that dog in the warehouse truck. He is obviously a valued companion. Therefore he is fed wholesomely and does not harbour hydatid tapeworms. It is only the lazy, miserly man who throws his dog raw entrails to eat whose animal will spread this disease. Be just, who should you blame? The man, who knows the result of this filthy habit? Or the dog who has no alternative food? In • England a great majority of the country doctors and district nurses take their dogs on their rounds—and riding in the car with them—not suffocating in the boot.—Yours, etc. J TRAVELLER. January 21, 1959.
