HOLLYWOOD, January 21. The pioneer movie-maker, Cecil B. De Mille, producer of biblical epics, and a giant in Hollywood since he helped found the >fllm

colony nearly 50 years ago, died in his Hollywood mansion toda'y after a brief illness. He was 77 years of age.
