N.Z. Players Win In Australia (N.Z Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 9 p.m.) MELBOURNE, January 21. The New Zealand Universities* tennis team today beat the Royal South Yarra Club of Melbourne by 14 matches to 2 in the visitors’ first match of their Australian tour. Royal South Yarra is recognised as one of Melbourne’s strongest club teams, but the New Zealanders proved too strong. In the best' match of the day Miss M. Rayson, of South Yarra, a former junior champion, narrowly defeated Miss J, Glenie, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. Miss Glenie started well by winning the first set and racing to a 3-0 lead in the second.

But the Victorian player, ranked in Australia’s top 10, fought back to take the next six games, and then the deciding set. In the men’s singles, B. Woolf (New Zealand Universities), played well to beat South Yarra’s number one player, G. Wilkinson, 6-2, 6-2. Results (New "Zealand players first): — Men’s Singles.—B. Woolf beat G. Wilkinson, 6-2, 6-2; G. Roberts beat A. Gubb, 8-2, 8-6; G. Judge beat R. Pratt, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3; F. Scarlett beat G. Osborne, 6-4, 6-4. - Women’s Singles.—Miss J. Glenie lost to Miss M. Rayson, 6-4, 3-6, 3-6; Miss G. Hopkinson beat Miss R. Milne, 6-1, 6-2; Miss J. Kent beat Miss H. McLarty, 6-3, 6-4; Miss J. Little beat Miss E. Amour, 6-2, 6-2.

KRAMER’S TEAM AT WAGGA

Country Bodies Suspended

(N.Z Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 10 p.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 21. The New South Wales Lawn Tennis Association Council last night suspended the country associations of Narrandera and Wagga for staging exhibitions with Jack Kramer’s professional tennis troupe. The associations were suspended until they appear before the February council meeting of the New South Wales Lawn Tennis Association. The suspension was carried by 16 votes to 12. The Albury association has been asked to provide an explanation on reports that Kramer's professionals played there. Action by the State L.T.A. follows a ruling by the Lawn Tennis Association of Australia banning the use etf amateur courts by the unitet States professional promoter. Jack Kramer.
