RANGIORA CHURCH WORKER TO VISIT INDIA

Mrs Colin Campbell, of Rangiora, will represent the Presbyterian women of New Zealand at the golden jubilee of the Presbyterian mission in the Punjab, on February 7 and 8. Two representatives of the Presbyterian Church will attend the anniversary for the Very Rev. D. N. Mac Diarmid will attend on behalf of the General Assembly. The Dominion president of the

Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union of New Zealand, Mrs Campbell has been interested in the missionary activities of the church for many years. For 19 years she has been connected with the P.W.M.U. and before going to Rangiora she took an interest in the junior groups associated with the missionary activities of the church, the Busy Bees and the Auxiliary, both connected with the P.W.M.U.

The Punjab was one of the spheres of interest in missionary work for the Presbyterian church in New Zealand, said Mrs Campbell yesterday. She expected that American and Australian representatives would be present at the anniversary also. Heavy Programme Mrs Campbell has a fairly heavy programme for her five weeks in India. She will leave New Zealand by plane on Tuesday night and will arrive at Delhi on Friday. The rest of the journey to Chandighar, the new capital of the Punjab, will be by road. The day after her arrival she will attend the dedication of a new United church. She will speak at a training Institute for women leaders for the North India and Punjab synods, being held at Rajpur from February 12 to 15.

She Is expected, also, to lecture to Anjumans, the equivalent of the P.W.M.U. groups in New Zealand. She has been asked to cover In her addresses the main aspects of the women’s affairs within the church In New Zealand—their work, their problems, their triumphs and their needs. Although the individual protestant denominations supplied staff and funds for the missionary work in India and the Punjab, said Mrs Campbell, the work of the lot was directed by a united council there.

Formerly a school teacher, Mrs Campbell is president of the Rangiora group of the P.W.M.U., superintendent of the Sunday school in Rangiora, and the secretary of the Rangiora Church Council.
