W. Gurnsey (Fendalton), and by recent form he should win a title. He has twice won the South Island open title. Gurnsey is an excellent long roquet shot and an accurate break player. Another prominent Canterbury competitor will be Mrs W. H. Kirk (St. James’ Park), a former New Zealand women’s champion and New Zealand rep-1 resentative against England for the Macßobertson Shield in 1950 and 1956.
