percentage of peels. Mrs Penn's Return ,
Mrs W. L. Martin (United) has a fine style with an accurate rhythmical swing. Her long rush shot is a delight to watch and her roquet shot and break play are far above average. Mrs Martin will have Mr Gurnsey as her partner in the doubles at Nelson, and must be highly favoured. Mrs Kirk will partner her husband in the doubles. This couple have had many doubles successes, being four times South Island title holders and former runners up in the national titles. They are the present Canterbury doubles champions. Mrs C. Ogier, who won the national junior title, in 1951 and 1952, has made great progress in the senior ranks. She is the present Canterbury women’s champion, and has deadly accuracy with her shots, which she hits hard. Her partner in the doubles will be W. B. Paynter, who plays regularly in Australian tournaments.
