Hill gradually found form and his 142 was a grand knock. Hartland deserves praise for batting at number five; he could not always play the type of knock natural to him. He held the side together in the game against Otago and would ho doubt have niade more runs in subsequent games if they had been needed. Wood was on the verge of top gear each time when dismissed. Andrews. McKinney and Hope did not find form. The side only batted three times, whereas the leading batsmen in the other teams batted either five or six times. Beban, Parson, Prouting and Watson did most of the bowljng in the six innings. All did their part. Beban took 17 wickets with his off spinners, more than any other bowler in the tournament Parson, a Wellington boy who is a pupil at Christ’s College, bowled really well and was pernaps the fastest Only 17 he ha<> * bright future.
