Arrival By Car At Wellington

WELLINGTON, January 13. The Governor-General of Australia (Field-Marshal Sir William Slim) arrived at Government House, Wellington,, this evening. His Excellency ’ had travelled from Wairakei by car. Tomorrow he will have lunch with the Prime Minister (Mr Nash) and other members of the. Cabinet after making a formal call on the Prime Minister at 12.30 p.m. During the evening His Excellency will attend a dinner party at Government House.

On Thursday, Sir William Slim will leave Paraparaumu by special R.A.A.F. flight to Wigram. On Friday an official farewell will take place at Harewood before His Excellency leaves for Australia at noon.

Motor-Cyclist Dies Of Injuries

(New Zealand Press Association) WHANGAREI, January 13. A motor-cyclist died in the Whangarei Public Hospital yesterday from injuries suffered when he fell from his machine at Otonga, two miles and a half from Hikurangi, on Saturday. He was: Ronald Percy Child, aged 23, of 8 Rata street, Naenae. It is thought that Mr Child lost control of his machine and fell to the roadway.
