(Rec. 11 p.m.) LONDON, January 13. Medical experts are reported today to be baffled by a strange new form of poliomyelitis which has affected several children in Britain. The present vaccine is no protection, according to the science correspondent of the “News Chronicle.*’ The correspondent says the disease paralyses its victims in the way poliomyelitis does and has all the usual symptoms. But it is not caused by the same virus. It may be caused, experts think, by an “echo virus” of the poliomyelitis type. The “News Chronicle” correspondent adds that all the cases are being referred to Medical Research Council experts at the Virus Research Laboratory in Col indale. North London.
