Woman From Burwood Area

One case of hydatids was reported in the Christchurch health area last week. The patient was a young woman from the Burwood area, but no further information was available as an inspector’s report had not been obtained. Among the other cases notified was one of cerebro-spinal meningitis. The patient, an infant, is now in hospital receiving treatment

“It seems to be one of those cases that crop up from time to time, with no known contact” said the Deputy Medical Officer of Health (Dr. W. I. Paterson) yesterday. Again, no further details were available, as a full report had not been filed. Other diseases notified were: tuberculosis three, puerperal sepsis two, ophthalmia neonatorum one, infective hepatitis 10, pemphigus neonatorum two. No deaths were reported.

Converted Vehicles Recovered.— Converted during the week-end, a motor-cycle and two motorscooters have been recovered. The motor-cycle, taken from Peterborough street, was found abandoned at the corner of Innes and Bretts road. The motir-scooters were taken from Durham and Salisbury streets, and were found in Salisbury street and Bealey avenue respectively.
