Good Scoring In Tourney (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) SYDNEY, January 12. New Zealand’s 16-year-old national chess champion, Rodney Phillips, could still finish among the leaders of the Sydney International Chess Tournament. When twelfth round matches started tonight Phillips was out to show the same ability which won him a point from C. J. S. Purdy in the eleventh round on Saturday night. Phillips, with 6J points and five rounds to play, is two points and a half behind the leaders, M. A. Watulo (Indonesia) and L. Steiner (New South Wales), who each have 9. O. Sarapu, of New Zealand, drew his match with J. N> Hanks (Victoria), and with 7 J points, moved level with the Indonesian, Bachtiar, one and a half points behind the joint leaders.

Tonight Sarapu plays the Victorian title holder, K. Ozlos.
