Stole Car And Baby

A sleeping six-month-old baby boy caused an all-out police search in Melbourne at the weekend when a car was stolen from the suburb of Ringwood—with ti e baby in it The child, Gary Swain, was revered unharmed yesterday several miles from the spot where the car was taken.

The child’s parents, Mr and Mrs Frank Swain, were visiting friends in Ringwood when their car was stolen from outside their hosts’ home.

All police patrol cars in the metropolitan area were alerted, and a police net spread out over the area.

The stolen car was chased by a patrol car. The thieves swerved into a sidestreet, blew a tyre, then jumped out of the car and ran for it.

The baby was still asleep in the back.
