(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. January 12.

Seven new buildings now under construction and costing more than £700,000 will bring* the amount spent on new buildings within a quarter of a mile of the Lower Hutt Post Office in the last three years to about £2 million.

They mark the peak of the second post-war wave pf commercial and civic building. All seven buildings are expected to be completed this year. A new three-storey transport centre and a new horticultural hall should be ready for use next month. Both these are being built by the City Council. Two insurance companies are each putting up four-storey buildings which will also provide additional shops and office space. The other buildings are a three-storey police station, a new hotel, and a two-storey commercial building.
