Australian And N.Z. Poetry Award
The awards of the Queensland Authors’ and Artists’ Association and Fellowship of Australian Writers’ 1958 poetry competition made by the panel of judges headed by Professor A. K. Thomson of Queensland University, were:— Griffith Watkins, of Cottesloe. Western Australia, first prize of £5O: J M. O’Brien, of Western Australia, second prize of £l5: Ron Harrison, of Queensland, third prize of £lO 10s. Consolation prizes were awarded to Mrs L. Mellish. Miss J. Heap and J. J. McGahey. of Brisbane. A. T. Hinchliffe and J. Wheeler of New South Wales and W. Tainsh of Victoria. All Australian states and New Zealand were well represented in the 589 entries received.
