LANCASTER PARK CRASH BARRIERS

Improvement Planned The crush barriers at Lancaster Park are to be improved, according to a report by Mr D. A Colville at a meeting last evening of the Victory Park Board, which controls the park. Mr Colville said that a strong wire mesh would be fixed to the top of the barriers. During recent functions at the park children had lost their positions by being pushed under the bars, which were about the waist height of an average man. Mr Colville said that the bars had been inspected recently by members of the board, and they were convinced that the wire mesh would be the answer to the problem. “How long will it stay there, kids being what they are?” asked Mr W. C. Dailey. Mr Colville replied that the mesh was fairly strong, and would take a lot of strain. Mr Colville reported that good progress was being made with the construction of the new stand.
