Wider Search For Terrorists

(Rec. 11 pan.) NICOSIA, December 10. British troops today launched a new large-scale anti-Eoka operation in the northeast mountainous area of Cyprus. Authorities are believed to suspect that some Eoka top men managed to escape the British cordon during the last few weeks and slipped eastwards into the region now being searched.
Helicopters, spotter planes and police dogs are assisting the operation while naval craft are keeping watch on the coastline.
Eight Greek Cypriots were cut to pieces by men of a Turkish village and their remains displayed like meat in a butcher’s shop window in an incident which occurred on Cyprus last June, according to the “Dailv Sketch.” J
