Miss Sloper’s Distances Miss Valerie Sloper’s provincial records of 155 ft 3*in for the discus and 54ft Ojin for the shot put were approved by the Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association on Tuesday. Because the track had not yet been surveyed the records for the senior men's 4 x 110 yards relay, the 4 x 110 yards women s relay and the 4 x 220 yards junior relay were not approved. If the surveyor's report is in order the records will be approved at the centre's next meeting. Seven applications were received and approved for the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association’s national coaching school at Trent ham from December 27 to January 9. They wore tin ranking order): T. A. N. Sweeney (Groymouth), R. F. Young (Rangiora'. P. M. O’Sullivan. A. J. O'Sullivan (Ashburton), Mrs D. Jameson (Christchurch). John Cameron and Ewen Cameron (Christchurch). John Cameron and Ewen Cameron will attend the school for the refresher course as they both hold their coaching diplomas. A letter was received from Miss Marianne Narby, of the Toe H Club, which complained of the number of thefts from the women's dressing sheds at Rugby Park. The centre expressed its concern and decided to provide new | dressing rooms under the main I stand. If the thefts continued, !it was urged they should be re- | ported and action would be taken 1 immediately.
