Surf Life-Saving Maranui Club Team For Australia
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 18. The first club surf life-saving team ever to cross the Tasman on a com- ' petitive tour will leave New Zea-1 ' land by air on December 26 for I 1 Australia. It will consist of 18 members ot the Maranui Club, of Wellington, who will seek competition ■ in New South Wales and Queens- . land. The team will contain two com- I plete six-man rescue and resuscita-| tion teams, one senior and one i junior, and several emergency and specialist members. All are fully qualified surf life-savers, and they; include two New Zealand represen-. tatives who have met Australia pre- , viously, and one senior and two junior Wellington provincial representatives. The Maranui men have been in training throughout the winter to qualify for selection in the team. They have also raised sufficient funds to pay their fares, and nart of their accommodation in Australia. The team members are:—Senior: 1 M. Haxton. B. Oliver. R. Maltby. R. | Edwards. R. Hobman. F.
