Cycling HORNBY CLUBS 10-MILE RACE
Fastest Time To R. Lucas Twenty-six riders took part in the Hornby Cycling Club’s weekly 10mile race from Hornby towards Lincoln and return. Three miles trom the finish. J Haines. E. McCann, and A. Woods dropped the other riders from the leading bunch. Nearing the finish Haines rode away from the other two for a comfortable win. Before Prebbleton, the back-mark-ers had caught the big bunch, and on the overhead bridge R. Lucas broke away and was not caught Finishing in sixth place, he took fastest time covering the distance in 22m in 48.4 sec. only 4.2 sec outside the record for the course, held by K. Brown. Results were:— J. Haines (4mint, 25m in 31sec. 1: E. McCann <4’_<min). 26 min 30sec. 2; A. Woods (4min). 26min I.2sec. 3. Fastest tune: R. Lucas (scr), 22 .min 48.2scc.
