Table Tennis COMPETITION PLACINGS
Avonside Club’s Successes Winning two grades and reaching the post-section play stage in four others, the Avonside club was the most successful in the Canterbury Table Tennis Association’s 1959 competitions, which concluded last week. The club, which is the largest in Christchurch with 16 teams in the competitions, won the I> grade and the women’s grade. Two teams only completed the season with unbeaten records. These were the Selwyn team in the A grade and the Avonside team in the D grade. The Selwyn team was composed of V. N. Brightwell, T. R. D. Flint and P. S Alexander, and the D grade Avonside team was R. Eyre, H. Jer and M. Ballisatt. Final placings were:— A Grade.—Part 1: Selwyn I 26, Eagles 18, Avon 16, Linwood 15, University I 14. Part 2: Selwyn 111 15, University II 10, Panthers 10, Selwyn II 6, Wallabies 0.
A Reserve Grade.—Taxes 24, University I 21. Selwyn 111 19, Selwyn I 16, Cashmere 12, University II 8, Lyttelton 6, Selwyn II 6.
